Dog Training In Fall River MA

Dog Training Fall River MA
Dog Training In Fall River Massachusetts
1995 was the year I started dog training In Fall River Massachusetts.

I opened my business in the mill on the corner of Dwelly and Kilburne Streets.

The place was dump, my business neighbors in the mill were rotten, there was no parking but I was happy. I met so many nice people from while doing dog training in Fall River Massachusetts.

Shortly after opening I was offered a job doing animal control for city.

Now this was an interesting job. And my cat like reflexes and the fact I am a highly trained dog behavior specialist I was ready to protect the city and its residents from any and all unruly animals.

I hit the streets and the first week….

….I got bit.

So much for my skills.

Aggression is a behavior predatory animals have and use quite often. And your dog comes from a long line of predatory animals.

My job as a dog trainer is to teach dog owners how to make sure their dogs never bite a human. A dog bites comes with a lot of problems. First is a possible lawsuit, second, the dog is in hot water and lastly there can be deep physical and emotional scars which go with the bite.

The dog that bit me while on the job was roaming South Main St near Nick’s Hot Dogs.

I got him cornered a block away. Being new on the job I figured I could avoid using the control pole and just leash hi. Wrong move.

A control pole is a long metal pole with a wire noose. The noose is slipped over the dog’s head and then pulled tight. The pole makes it impossible for the dog to bite you as long as you hang on.

I didn’t like using it because it is very harsh and traumatic to watch. With a lot of bystanders I opted for the leash.

I approached and he was giving me all the warning signals. He slowly kept backing away from me. He backed up and then his butt touched the fence and he made his move. With a lightning fast move he lunged and nailed my hand.

So much for cat like reflexes.
Aggressive behavior can develop at any time in a dog. At the first sign of aggression you should contact a trainer who has experience dealing with this behavior.

Often dog owners put off the training and the behavior is developed. The dog learns through rehearsal aggression can be used to control situations.

No one ever came for the dog I wrote about in this article. I believe the dog developed aggressive behaviors and did not know how to handle it.

The dog was then dumped. In Fall River most of the dogs are dumped in reservoir but they are alos dumped in other areas.

Anyway, if you have questions you can get a FREE behavior consultation with me. Fill out the form and I’ll contact you personally. Here’s where to go NEXT:

  1. Sammy is an 8 month old blue nose (52 lbs) female pitbull. We’ve had her since she was 15 weeks and we got her from a couple who was going to surrender her to a shelter

We have a 2 year old boxer female and a 14 year old lab mix male. Both fixed. Sammy went into heat 4 days before her appointment to be spayed so it will be another month or so before we can spay her. She’s out of heat now.

I had given her and the other dogs a marrow bone about 3 months ago and she violently attacked my boxer and I needed to have the boxer stitched and hospitalized. After that we didn’t give them treats in the same room. About a month ago she did it again just randomly and tore the boxers ear. She did it again last night and I had to bring the boxer to the ER again. A 13 year old boy next door comes over and knocks on our door all the time asking to borrow Xbox games and Sammy barks aggressively. Last week I was handing him a game through the door and Sammy but him on the arm.

I tried taking her to petco for training and she was very anxious, nippy, growling and just very uneasy so they denied training and gave me a refund. My wife is pregnant and after 3x almost killing my boxer I just dont know what to do. We don’t feel comfortable especially with a new born to be Introduced. she will be spayed in 2 months.

She’s amazing with my 2 cats and my lab but I can’t run the risk of her killing the boxer and my boxer is having all sorts of emotional issues now that she feels threatened all the time.

If she was just nippy towards the boxer or kids that would be one thing, but after she attacked the boxer and the child, she was fixated for HOURS on getting back at them to attack again. its so disturbing.
