How To Control Barking

How To Stop Barking Dogs

Interesting observation from Karen S. Karen is a Dog Training Inner Circle member and her 3 year old Springer loves to bark as dogs go by the yard. Karen invested in a Citronella Spray Bark Collar and has been very pleased with the results. Here is what she wrote on the forum in the Inner Circle:

“I’ve been using the collar on Max for a week. I am so pleased with the results. He does bark without the collar and stops when I put it on him. When he goes outside he just watches as dogs go by our yard. In the past, I would have to shout at him to try to get him to stop barking which did not work. Now I am able to work and relax in the yard. Actually, I think he is more relaxed too…..”

The last sentence is a great observation on her part. Often when you bring a behavior like barking under control, the dog does relax. A behavior like barking often results in the dog becoming overstimulated and hectic. I have seen this happen many times when I helped calm a dog down. The dog is out of control jumping, biting your hands, your pant legs and not responding to your verbal commands.

I teach the dog, “NO,” and within a few minutes the dog calms down. The dog seems much more relaxed. The dog IS much more relaxed.

Anyway, The Dog Training Inner Circle is where you can learn more about teaching “YES,” “NO” and a whole lot more. Best of all, you can get started for just $1.00!
