Tiverton RI Dog Owner Learns How To Solve Dog Behavior Problems

Had a client in Tiverton RI that I was helping with some dog behavior problems.

I shared with him one of my favorite quotes from Walt Disney. He stated:

“You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.”

I’ve listened to a lot of new dog owners ask me why their dogs have to be such problems. Why can’t their dog be like the last one they had? That nothing works.

Here is one way to look at it.

Your dog was giving you problems. You hopped on the internet looking for help. You found one of my videos and this blog and then decided to sign up for my highly entertaining, information packed, completely educational emails.

Isn’t that great!

That’s one good thing that happened from your dog giving you problems.

The second thing is that you are going to learn how to analyze and solve any behavior problem using a technique developed by yours truly. I taught this to the Tiverton RI dog owner.

Ready for it?

From this point forward, if you are facing any dog behavior problem you can apply the M.U.T.T. Method to analyze it and more importantly, solve it.

Here’s how it works:

M – Manage your dog’s behavior. Management of behavior is what you do short term. A crate, leash or baby gates are all management tools to contain your dog in an area where he or she can’t do the undesired behavior.

U- Underlying behavior. This is a big one. In order to solve any problem, you have to find out the reason for the behavior. Digging could result from your dog being hot, frustrated, nesting, burying items, looking for varmints, boredom, etc.

Once you discover the reason for the digging, you can take the right steps.

T – Training. Train your dog to do a different behavior or to stop it altogether.

T – Time. Changing behavior takes time and every dog is different so your dog may learn fast or may require a little more time.

By the way, I cover all of this and a lot more, showing dog owners how to apply the M.U.T.T. Method in my dog training classes.
