I was reading my friend and expert copywriter Wes Murph’s blog the other day.
He wrote about an extremely rare condition that I wished I had last night.
The condition is called Urbach-Wiethe and you’ve probably never heard of it because there are only about 400 people on the planet that have it.
If you have Urbach-Wiethe you are absolutely incapable of feeling fear.
Someone could stick a gun in your mug, a knife to your throat or have a 150lbs intact 2 year old Rottweiler growling and barking at you and you would have zero fear.
I know that I do NOT have Urbach-Wiethe because last night I was working with a grouchy, growling 150lb. intact male Rottweiler and even The Amazing Dog Training Man gets nervous dealing with a dog like this.
The Rotti was referred to me by another trainer and I could see why as soon as I saw this dog.
Not every trainer will deal with and work with aggressive dogs. Working with this dog is going to take some time and may be a little tricky. I am going to ask if I can record some of the work so I can share it with you.
Anyway, the best course of action is to prevent aggression from ever happening. Socialize your puppy and use reward based training methods. Choke and prong collars are recommended way too early for a lot of dogs.
The dog is not physically ready for the collar. Also corrections before the dog clearly understands a command is not fair to the dog. When a dog is not physically or mentally prepared problems will crop up.
It is much better to build a solid foundation by setting your dog up for success during the early critical stages of the pup’s life. This will do a lot to prevent aggression and develop your puppy into a well adjusted, happy dog.
And guess what?
If you’re looking for help training your dog you can get it for just $1.00!
