If you were to ask me what is the most common behavior problem I would answer….
….jumping.
And I can show you 10 different ways to deal with and stop this behavior.
But, if you were sitting across from me telling me that your dog is the world’s worst jumper I would NOT show you how to stop jumping.
Why would I do that?
Before I show you how to stop jumping (which can happen in less than five minutes) I need to make sure of one thing.
I have to make sure that you are not teaching and reinforcing your dog’s jumping behavior.
And about 80% of the people I work with are inviting their dog to jump and then want it to stop.
If you are walking around in a bummy pair of jeans you probably don’t care of if your dog jumps.
When you have freshly pressed, dry cleaned clothes on you do NOT want your dog to jump.
And you can’t expect your dog to know and understand when you have your good clothes on.
So if you want to stop jumping the first place to look is….
….your behavior.
Once your behavior is under control you and focus on your dog’s behavior.
