So last night Tom Brady showed what he was made of and stomped the Cincinnati Bagels into the ground.
Living in Massachusetts, I get to listen to the Boston media and all week they were talking about Tom Brady being all done. Time to retire.
And then last night he comes out of the box on fire. Two touchdowns in the first quarter and there was no looking back.
The sad fact is that there were quite a few fans that also turned on him. NOT me, I’m a loyal Brady fan to the end. The guy has brought us to the playoffs just about every year, three Super Bowl rings and a whole lot of fun and excitement.
Anyway, Sunday night football is over, it’s Monday, and time to go back to work. This morning I have to go and meet with a very nice lady who has a dog that she cannot handle. She did what she thought best and adopted the dog as a puppy. She thought it was going to be a small dog but turned into a 75lb. bundle of energy.
She is torn about this dog. She does love the dog but can’t control him. She can’t go for walks, is petrified that he may get lose and has has a hard time keeping up with his endless energy.
Her friends and family have told her she has to keep the dog and get some training.
I am going to recommend bringing the dog back to the shelter. I have talked to the shelter and they said they will be able to rehome the dog.
I can hear the howls coming now.
“WHAT? Mr. Amazing Dog Training Man? Can’t you train the dog and help her? How can you say this?”
It’s okay. I am used to getting criticized but listen for a second.
Not every dog is right for every person. Once you take a dog into your home you do have a responsibility. You are responsible for the care and feeding, providing a comfortable sleeping area, exercise, training and health care.
But not every relationship works out. Human or animal.
And to make some feel guilty or bad about their decision is not fair.
Especially after they have tried their best like the lady above.
I got dumped once by a girl (only once – haha!) but she did me a HUGE favor and often finding the dog a new home is doing the dog a HUGE favor. Let the dog go into a home where the owner is more suited to develop a bond and good relationship with the dog.
One more thing before heading out. Did you know the best way to develop a strong bond with your dog is by using positive training techniques like the ones I teach on The Leash Walking Secrets Course.
No choke or prong collars – imagine that?
