Unique Dog Advice From The Evil Russian

Have you ever heard of Spetnaz? Spetnaz is an elite Soviet special-forces unit and in the 1980’s one of their instructors was a guy by the name of Pavel Tsatsouline. Pavel came to America and became a fitness trainer, started calling himself “The Evil Russian” and wrote some great books.  I’ve been to a couple of his seminars and he is a great speaker. If you’re into this kind of stuff, I highly recommend his books and products. Anyway, I was re-reading one of his books the other day when I came across his term for “Greasing the groove.” He… Read the rest

Westport MA Dog Trainer Is A Flawed Individual

I love being a Westport MA dog trainer. Training dogs in Westport MA and the surrounding communities is awesome.  The ocean, farms, somewhat of a city life in Fall River and New Bedford is great. I was introduced to Jimmy Buffett hanging out at The Back Eddy in Westport long ago. Loved listening to his music ever since and one of my favorite songs is Fruitcakes. Here is the best line of the song: “You know I was talking to my friend Desdemona the other day she runs this space station and bake shop down near boomtown.  She told me… Read the rest

Swansea Dog Trainer Learns Valuable Lesson From Portuguese Fisherman

Two things I loved as a kid growing up in Swansea MA. Fishing and dog training. I spent my summers on the banks of Lee’s River in Swansea, MA. I loved it. I would spend my days swimming, sailing, fishing and snorkeling and the neighborhood was loaded with dogs. We had a few favorite spots to fish and one of them was a bridge that was also popular with the local community. The southeastern part of Massachusetts has a large Portuguese community and I used to watch them fish because they were so good at it. For every one fish… Read the rest

Somerset Dog Owner Uses Crazy Dog Training Technique

I recently gave a Somerset MA dog owner some advice that could literally save your dog’s life. It’s a crazy dog training technique but works almost 100% of the time. Would you like me to share this little nugget with you? Good, here it is: It is common for dogs, especially young dogs and puppies to ignore the owner when they get loose. The dog has learned that if they go back to the owner all the fun ends. So if you ever find yourself in this predicament there is one simple thing you can do. It may work… Read the rest

Middletown RI Dog Trainer Shares Dog Training Tip Inspired By Dale Carnegie

Being a dog trainer is one of the greatest professions. I get to meet so many great people and dogs from all over and one place I love going to is Aquidneck Island. Being a Middletown RI dog trainer allows me to stop in at my favorite place: Barnes N Noble! The Barnes & Noble bookstore in Middletown Ri is a great place to grab a coffee and browse some books. This week’s trip there was very exciting because I found a book that made me happier than a tick on a big dog. The book was, “Self Help Messiah.”… Read the rest

What They Don’t Want You To Know About Cupcakes

I love sharing little-known secrets with people – especially kids. Just the other day I was at a birthday party for my friend’s son. Cupcakes were served and I explained that eating a cupcake is difficult. That the frosting to cake ratio is all wrong. You bite into the cupcake and either get a mouth full of frosting or a mouth full of dry cake. He completely agreed. I then explained to the little tyke that I had a solution to this problem that has plagued humans since the invention of cupcakes and asked if he would like to learn… Read the rest

Terminator Teaches Me “The Spark”

Arnold Schwarzenegger is one interesting dude. Regardless of how you feel about him, he has accomplished some amazing things. World champion bodybuilder, big screen actor, successful businessman, Governor of California, there is no question about it, he knows a few things. I recently read an article he wrote called, “The Spark.” In it he describes how you can’t wait for motivation, that you need to go find it. And chances are, if you don’t find the motivation it will probably eventually find you in a form that you won’t like. He talks about the person who doesn’t take care of… Read the rest

What You Can Do When Your Dog Breaks Your Leg

There is an old story of a farmer from Westport MA who worked his fields for many years. One day his dog ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. “Such bad luck,” they said. “Maybe” the farmer replied. The next morning the dog returned, bringing with it three other wild dogs. “How wonderful” the neighbors said. “Maybe” replied the farmer. The following day, his son tried to teach the dog to walk on leash and tripped over a rock and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. Sorry about… Read the rest

Thank God I Can’t Use Tools!

True story. In high school my grades were so bad I was put into a trade school. One year later I was back in regular school because I was terrible with any tool placed in my hand. Fast forward a few years after high school and I took a job changing oil because I had no skills and needed cash – fast! Couple of days later I’m under a car draining the oil and noticed that it seemed very clean. I filled the engine with new oil and jumped in the car to drive it off the lift. The car… Read the rest
